BackSRRC, Mannavanur organized 57th Foundation Day on 16. 11.2021
Southern Regional Research Centre of ICAR-CSWRI, Mannavanur organized a Webinar entitled "Profitable Rabbit Rearing" on the eve of its 57th Foundation Day, 16/ 11/ 2021 at SRRC Campus, Mannavanur under the programme of Azad ka Amrit Mahotsav commemorating 75th year of India’s Independence. The event was organized in Go to Meeting web platform. Dr. Arun Kumar Tomar, Hon’ble Director, ICAR-CSWRI, inaugurated the webinar sessions and addressed the participants about the Rabbit farming and the role of ICAR-CSWRI in Broiler Rabbitry. In his presidential address the Director, appreciated the works on Sheep & Rabbit farming community welfare, being carried out by the staff of SRRC and further he assured that HQ Avikanagar would continuously be extending its full support in the development of SRRC, Mannavanur, Kodaikanal by all means and requested Dr.Raghvendar Singh to conduct the entire course of the webinar. Dr.A.S.Rajendiran, OIC SRRC Mannavanur, presented the welcome address and orientation of the meet. Dr.R.Thirupathy Venkatachalapathy, Professor & Head, Goat & Sheep Farm, KVASU, Mannuthy, Kerala, addressed the participants about the role of KVASU in promoting Rabbitry in Kerala state, while Dr.C.Soundararajan, Director, CAHS, TANUVAS, Chennai, spoke about the role of TANUVAS in the popularization of Rabbit farming in Tamil Nadu & the availability of Snuffle vaccine for the Rabbits with the university. Dr.Rajeev Gulyani, Ex-Principal Scientist & the pioneer of Rabbit research, ICAR-CSWRI, Avikanagar also addressed the participants about the growth of Rabbit farming in the country.
Dr.A.Sahoo, the Director, ICAR-NRC on Camel, Bikaner, Rajasthan, Dr.S.R.Sharma, Head, Health Division, CSWRI, Dr.H.K.Narula, the Incharge, ARC Campus, Bikaner also addressed the participants and conveyed their wishes to the Webinar.
Then, Dr.A.Kowsigan, IAS, Director, Dept. of Animal Husbandry, Govt. of Kerala, briefed about the opportunities and challenges of Rabbitry in Kerala state and further he assured that Dept. of Animal Husbandry, Govt. of Kerala, would be having the collaboration with ICAR-CSWRI, Avikanagar for the purpose of augmenting Rabbit farming in Kerala.
A total number of 104 Rabbit clients, entrepreneurs and 21 officials from various parts of Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry and Kerala actively participated in this webinar. Various aspects of Rabbitry including Production management, Value addition of rabbit products, health coverage and breeding, were covered by Dr.P.Thirumurugan, Dr.G.Nagarajan, Dr.S.Jega Veerapandian and S.M.K.Thirumaran, respectively.
