BackSwachh Bharat mission at C.S.W.R.I.Avikanagar

Under the Swachh Bharat Mission of Union Government, special cleanliness drive  has been organized at  CENTRAL SHEEP AND WOOL RESEARCH INSTITUTE  AVIKANAGAR  on dated  13 August 2015 to eradicate hazardous weed   Parthenium hysterophorus  from the   Institute campus. Institute Director Dr S.M.K. Naqvi motivated to staff members for their contribution in making the campus clean from this weed. All the staff members and schools of campus were requested to clean the identified places within the premise. The staffs members, teachers and students of kendriya vidyalaya, Government Higher Secondary School avikanagar and Ladies club Avikanagar participated in the cleanliness exercise with enthusiasm and cleaned the parking area play grounds, lawn and farm roads of the campus. During this, Parthenium were removed from the premises for disposal at proper place. On this occasion Institute Director Dr. S.M.K Naqvi addresses to the all staff members, teachers, students and other residents of campus as reported presently, this invasive weed is widely prevalent in India.  This noxious weed is known to cause many health hazards and has potential to disrupt the natural Eco-systems. It squeezes grasslands and reduces agricultural and pastures productivity.  Individually to curb proliferation of P. hysterophorus is difficult. So, integrated approaches are warranted to restrict the invasion of this weed. To address this problem, the invasive weeds should be adopted public awareness and has to be developed for participatory approach to control the weed.
